How to Get a Job in Lagos Life Game, Step by Step

Quick answer

Jobs are how a new Lagos Life Sim eats. Open the in-game phone, open Jobs, compare pay per shift and skill requirements, tap Apply — the post starts tomorrow — then work the shift's task buttons for a full performance bar. Nail 4 tasks in one shift and it pays a 15% bonus.

How does getting a job work in Lagos Life?

Careers are the steady income in the game: each one pays a set amount per shift, shifts run on the real Lagos clock, and 15 of the 20 careers need no skill to start. This page walks the whole loop in nine pictured steps — open the Jobs app, read the listings, apply, work the shift, get paid — using frames from a real recording.

Where the pictures come from: the frames are from Can I Get Rich in Lagos Life Without Begging? by Katherine Psych (recorded and published 2026-10-06, 22:39), used with credit as the source recording. The written steps are ours; each step deep-links the exact second of that video. Pay figures and rules quoted here come from our own check of the public client on 9 Oct 2026 — see the careers and salaries table for every career side by side.

New to the game entirely? The first-day walkthrough covers sign-up to your first meal.

Step 1 — How do you open the Jobs app?

Tap the Phone button at the bottom of the screen. The in-game phone opens an app grid — Messages, Bank, Chowdeck, Forbes and friends — and the Jobs app sits at the top left.

Everything runs through the in-game phone. Careers live in the Jobs app. (10:36 in the video)

Step 2 — What is on a job listing?

Each listing card shows the career, your starting rank in it, the pay per shift, the shift pattern — one-hour shifts, any time, five days a week on most posts — and an Apply button. Nothing is hidden behind the tap: what you see on the card is what the job pays.

Each card carries the job’s pay for one shift, its weekly pattern and an Apply button. (10:04 in the video)

Step 3 — Which careers need a skill first?

Keep scrolling. The weeks differ per post — one Retail listing in the recording runs six days — and further down the list the cards start carrying requirement lines: a skill at level 3 before the job will take you. The recording’s Law post starts you as a case clerk; its Retail post starts you on the shop floor.

Keep scrolling: weeks differ by post, and each career names its first rank. (14:36 in the video)

Step 4 — Which jobs pay the most?

The top of the pay table sits at the bottom of the scroll: the recording’s best cards were an Aviation cabin-crew post and a Product Management post, both marked with the fitness or charisma level they demand. The precise per-shift figures for every career and rank live in our careers and salaries table — numbers in videos go stale, that table gets re-checked against the client.

The better-paying cards mark what they need — a skill at level 3 before you can apply. (14:44 in the video)

Step 5 — How do you apply?

Tap Apply — start tomorrow on the card you want. The recording’s pick, an oil-and-gas field post, even carries a location line: it is based in Port Harcourt. Jobs in the other cities work the same way as Lagos ones; our Abuja and Port Harcourt guide lists what they pay.

Step 6 — How do you earn before your first shift?

Between applying and your first shift there is gap money. The recording stops at CcHub Yaba, whose panel lists a paid freelance gig, a daily gem hunt with a small prize, and side projects that raise your coding skill — the very skill the better jobs ask for. (The same panel offers riskier ways to make money; the game will arrest your Sim for the criminal ones, so treat them as flavour, not strategy. Earning inside the game only, never for real money — see how to make money.)

No career yet? CcHub Yaba pays small amounts for gigs and side projects — and trains the coding skill some jobs demand. (13:40 in the video)

Step 7 — What does a shift look like?

At shift time the screen becomes an At work panel: your role and rank, a Performance bar, a countdown to the next task, and five action buttons — do your work, work like a jaguar, gist with colleagues, suck up to oga, take am easy. Performance starts around half and climbs as you complete tasks.

A shift is a panel, not a cutscene: performance climbs while you fire off tasks, and the timer queues the next one. (15:20 in the video)

Step 8 — How do you work the tasks?

Tap the lit task when its timer frees up. Each completed task nudges the performance bar up, and the shift tracks how many you have won out of the total. Leave early if you must — the panel says so outright — but a partial shift pays partially.

Tap the lit task when it comes up; the performance bar climbs with each one. (15:46 in the video)

Step 9 — When do you get paid?

When the shift ends, a Back from Work modal settles up: the shift’s pay, your performance score, and — if you won 4 tasks — the Employee of the shift line with its 15% bonus on that shift’s pay. Shift by shift, that is the whole loop; why one career beats another over a full week is in how to make money.

Clock out and the modal settles up: pay, performance, and the Employee of the shift bonus. (15:50 in the video)

Where does a job lead?

Shifts feed more than the wallet: careers promote up five ranks on performance, Rep and days worked, with a board interview near the top — the full ladder is in the promotion guide. And once shifts stack up, the classic next move is a home with a shorter commute to nothing: renting your own place, pictured step by step.

Frequently asked questions

When does a new job start in Lagos Life?

The day after you apply. Every listing's button says Apply — start tomorrow, so plan your first shift for the next Lagos morning rather than expecting work the same day.

How long is one shift in Lagos Life?

A shift is about an hour on the game's real Lagos clock, and many posts let you work it at any time of day. The listing shows the weekly pattern — five days on most careers, six on some — before you apply.

What is Employee of the shift in Lagos Life?

A per-shift bonus. Win 4 of the shift's mini-tasks and the Back from Work screen marks you Employee of the shift and adds 15% to that shift's pay.

Can you leave a shift early in Lagos Life?

Yes. The shift panel has a Leave work early option, and the game warns it pays partially — you keep what the tasks you finished earned, but you forfeit the rest of the shift.

What if no job will take you in Lagos Life?

Check the requirement line: the better posts want a skill at level 3 first, which you can raise at CcHub Yaba through side projects and freelance gigs. The full ladder, from rank 1 to the board interview, is in our promotion guide.
