How to Rent a Home in Lagos Life Game, Step by Step

Quick answer

Moving home in Lagos Life is a phone job. Open the Houses app, compare weekly rents and move-in totals, and tap Move In — the card splits the total into two weeks of rent upfront plus one for the agent. Your furniture follows you, and the next rent leaves every Saturday at 9 AM.

How does renting a home work in Lagos Life?

Every home in the game rents per week, and moving in costs 3 weeks of that home’s rent up front — two in advance, one for the agent and agreement. The whole move lives in the phone’s Houses app: browse, compare, tap Move In. This page walks it in nine pictured steps, from the app grid to your first home-cooked meal.

Where the pictures come from: the frames are from Lagos Life: What To Do First + How To Decorate Your House by Samuel Awoyemi H-QTV (recorded and published 2026-10-07, 10:50), used with credit as the source recording. The written steps are ours, and each one deep-links the exact second of that video. Rents and move-in totals on this page come from our own check of the public client on 9 Oct 2026; the full price list is in the homes and rent guide.

If you are on day one with your starter room, the first-day walkthrough covers how you got here.

Step 1 — How do you open the Houses app?

Tap Phone at the bottom of the screen. The app grid holds the money apps — Forbes, Invest, Bank — and, among them, Houses. That one app handles everything about where you live.

Step 2 — Where does your Sim live right now?

The Houses app opens on Your Homes: your current address, with a You live here tag on it. Every Sim starts in a starter home — a Mushin room, a Yaba self-contain or the Lekki flat if the birth lottery was kind — and this tab is where you outgrow it.

Step 3 — What homes are on the market?

The market list runs cheapest to dearest: the Yaba self-contain, the Lekki Phase 1 mini-flat, the Ikoyi duplex, the Banana Island mansion. Each card shows the weekly rent and the move-in total before you commit to anything — the same order our rent table uses, from ₦2,400 to ₦1,500,000 a week.

Step 4 — What does it cost to move in?

Tap a listing and the card does the maths for you. The recording’s Lekki mini-flat (₦17,000 a week) breaks its move-in into two weeks of rent upfront plus agent and agreement (₦51,000 in total), and adds one reassurance: all your furniture comes with you. One Move In button sits at the bottom of the card.

Whether that total is realistic on shift pay — and which homes no job alone can rent — is worked out career by career in how to make money.

Step 5 — How do you complete the move?

Tap Move In with the full total in your wallet. The recording lands in the green-walled mini-flat under a Welcome to your new Mini-flat in Lekki Phase 1 toast. From here, rent leaves your wallet every Saturday at 9 AM — keep that line in your budget, because owing 2 weeks brings a Quit Notice.

Step 6 — How do you start furnishing?

The empty flat is a canvas. Tap Buy at the bottom and the screen switches to Buy mode, with a Catalogue panel sorted into tabs — Design, Sleep, Kitchen, Bath, Comfort, Fun, Skills, Light. The recording starts in Comfort, eyeing seating.

Step 7 — How do you place a piece of furniture?

Pick an item — the recording places a Lounge Armchair — and the placement controls appear: drag to move, arrow keys to nudge, R to rotate, green Place to set it down, Cancel to think again. No builders, no waiting.

Step 8 — What else can you buy for the home?

Work through the tabs. The Bath tab holds the wet-room fittings — the recording places a Bathtub the same way: price on the card, rotate, Place. Anything you buy becomes yours permanently, which matters because furniture travels with you to the next address.

Step 9 — How do you cook your first meal at home?

A furnished kitchen pays you back. Interact with the kerosene stove and a menu of dishes opens — indomie and egg, fry dodo, efo with eba — priced lower than eating out every night. Pick one, cook, and the hunger bar refills at home. Burn a dish (it happens — the game tells you when the pot has had too much fire) and you have lost the ingredients, not the kitchen.

Where should your next Naira go after the rent?

Once the address is sorted, money goes further in this order: keep 3 weeks of rent banked, then buy income — a business you can afford beats furniture you cannot. The payback maths is in how to make money. And the game lets you hold one home per city, so if Lagos rents start feeling heavy, Abuja and Port Harcourt have their own lists — a job there first helps, which is what the get-a-job walkthrough is for.

Frequently asked questions

How much money do you need before moving into a new home in Lagos Life?

The whole move-in total, in the wallet, before you tap Move In. The listing card splits it for you — two weeks of that home's rent upfront plus one week for the agent and agreement — and the button will not move you in on a promise. Compare the totals on our homes and rent guide first.

Does your furniture follow you to a new home in Lagos Life?

Yes. The move-in card on a Lekki mini-flat says so outright: all your furniture comes with you. You are paying for walls and an address, not for replacing the sofa you saved for.

Which home should a new LAPO account rent in Lagos Life?

A LAPO start picks between the Mushin room and the Yaba self-contain, and the Lekki mini-flat stays locked until you have worked your way up — the birth-lottery card says exactly that. The UNILAG hall is not on the market at all: it takes enrolled students only.

When is rent taken in Lagos Life?

Every Saturday at 9 AM, and it is charged per week wherever you live. A good habit from the rent guide: treat next rent day's money as spent, and only upgrade your address with what sits above that line.
